Junior Infants September 2020

30th July 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians of Junior Infants

The school will reopen on Thursday 27th August 2020. We would like to invite you and your child to come to school  to meet the class teacher and staff in advance of the full opening of school. We plan to invite small groups to join us for approximately 30 minutes at a time and you will receive a specific day and time on either Tuesday 25th August or Wednesday 26th August. We will notify you of that time two weeks before the reopening of school.

Regards Mr Rabbitt

26th June 2020

Booklists are also now available on Aladdin (Please contact the school if you have not signed up for Aladdin).

Due to the restrictions in place the school is not in a position to sell uniforms this year. Our plain navy uniform (see details in our school handbook on the website) is available in most stores. If you wish to purchase the uniform crest, please contact Perfect Stitches at 0873430673.

The school calendar is available on the Aladdin Notice board and HERE. School will reopen on Thursday August 27th 2020.

Following consultation with our Parents Association and staff we are proposing to change our opening and closing times from September 2020. If this is approved by the Board of Management, then school will commence at 8.50am and finish at 2.30pm (1.30pm for Infants).

There will be a number of changes to staff for the forthcoming school year. Jean Wade will be on career break and Mr Rabbitt will be on Secondment for the school year.  Eileen O’Neill will take over as Principal with Caroline Dunne as Deputy Principal. A number of appointments will be made over the summer months and changes to the list above may be made. We will endeavour to keep you informed of changes via Aladdin. Please regularly check Aladdin.

Dear Parents of Incoming Junior Infants,

I would like to extend a welcome to all of the families of the children who will be arriving into our school in September 2020. Welcome to the families who already have other children in the school and also to our new families. I hope that your association with Scoil an Chlochair over the next eight years  will be a very happy time for both you and your child.

This is a very uncertain time for all of us and I know that you will be particularly anxious about sending your child to school. We are awaiting guidance from the government about the reopening of schools and are not yet certain about how the days will be arranged for any of our classes. However it is important to plan ahead and I will hope for the best that all will return to normal in September.

Usually at this time of the year I meet with our incoming parents and children to prepare for their arrival at school. This is not possible at this time. I hope to have an opportunity over the Summer to  arrange a meeting with parents and guardians and will contact you in advance of this.

Below are a number of documents that you may find useful.

1 The first is a letter regarding Aladdin Connect. This is the school's new management system and I ask that both parents/guardians read the letter and sign-up to Aladdin when the code is issued to you during the coming week. Each parent/guardian will have their own unique code.

2 Secondly is the Junior Infant Booklet. This has been prepared by your child's teacher, Florence Guilfoyle, and gives some tips for Starting School.

3 The third link is to the Scoil an Chlochair, School Handbook which is found on the website alongside all of our school policies. Please take some time to look through this book.

I look forward to meeting all of you in the not too distant future and hope that until then you keep safe and well. In the meantime if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on the numbers listed on the home page.

All the best

Mr Rabbitt, Principal Scoil an Chlochair.
